Matt looks goofy on a horse, But has great balance.

Matt and I have been taking riding lessons since October 2006. I have ridden horses since I was nine and Matt is brand new to the horse world. We were taking the lessons down in Skowhegan Maine with a instructor, but this person did not know how to teach lessons.
The first lesson we had with her. She showed Matt how to hold the reins wrong. She told him not to use his legs for the first lesson. And she had Matt hold the reins so long and he had no contact with the horse's mouth. AKA - He could not stear the horse. The second lesson was worst than the first. Her daughter was their, the owner of the horse that Matt was on. The daugther kept telling Matt that his reins were too short and I was getting mad because his reins were already to long and he had to control of the horse. For both lessons, for what she tought me, IT WAS NOTHING!!! We paid her $60 an hour. What a rip off!
Now We are taking lessons in Woodstock, at Dickinson's Star Ranch, with Greg Dickinson. He is very intense and an excellance instructor! Matt is doing great when it comes to balance, walking, jogging, useing his legs and arms to make circles. BUT when he lopes it looks so funny. His legs are out infront of him, like he is sitting in a chair, his face is so focused with a weird look on his face. And it looks like he is trying to sit back on his butt, instead of setting straight in the saddle.
Over all, I can't complain because at least he is trying to ride. And that makes me happy!
