DEMPSEY

This is our first dog. 2 year old Boxer named Dempsey. He is very kind, and is trained. We found him at the Westbrook Animal Refuge League. I love him so much! He is one crazy puppy. I swear he is obsesive compulsive with tennis balls. When he sees a ball it is like a fat kid after smarties!! Even if you say "ball" he knows exactly what you are talking about. We have bought him three tennis balls and he has destroyed all three already. We have had him one day. Good thing that he has a couple of other chew toys that he loves to bite down on! He is a little on the thin side and we need to work on getting him to work on gaining some weight. Dempsey already knows the basic commands which are sit, lay, stay and play dead. You say "bang" and he turns, and lays down like he is dead. We saw a boxer puppy for sale at the pet store and it was $1000 and we got Dempsey basically for free and paid $150 for his vaccinations and other shots. And he is neutured. I don't think that I could have asked for a better dog from the animal shelter. I am really glad that Tami and I have looked there. Not because we got a really beautiful dog out of it but we could have gone to a breader bought a new puppy and there are animals just waiting to be adopted and are perfectly fine. It just makes me feel a whole lot better that we could make a difference in the adoption world and not had another animal be euthanized that is perfectly healthy!
